Time Shift Viewing

The rapid growth of digital technology means that the way we watch and engage with our favourite TV shows is evolving.

Important adjustments have therefore been made to the TV ratings system to reflect the viewing habits of all Australians. The TV ratings panel now includes those homes with Personal Video Recorders (PVRs).

In addition to ‘Live’ viewing, any viewing of programs done at normal speed within seven days of the original broadcast (called ‘Playback’) is also now measured and reported. The Live and Playback viewing figures are aggregated to provide a Consolidated rating - which is a more accurate measurement of a program or channel's audience.
